Use the Data and Layout settings in your module to manipulate the information shown in your chart, and how it is presented.
Required System Role: Standard User
Required Team Role: Viewer
When you are creating your insight module, you can edit multiple settings related to the data displayed, and the layout of the chart. The specific settings that appear in a module will depend on the type of chart you are creating (column/bar/line/donut), and the variables you are investigating. For example, a module that is investigating stakeholder engagement over time will include specific settings related to a time period.
For further information on the types of charts you can create, see here <>.
Data Settings
Each of these settings is aimed at helping users fine-tune the data and presentation of their charts based on specific project needs and timeframes.
Project Scope
- Allows the user to select which project data is included in the chart. Multiple projects can be selected.
- Use Case: This is used when users want to visualise event types across one or multiple projects.
Include Distinct Stakeholder Counts
- If your module relates to stakeholder engagement, you can choose to include data on the number of distinct stakeholders in your chart.
- Use case: you could engage with 50 distinct stakeholders twice within a given period. The total count will therefore be 100 stakeholder engagements. Turning this setting on (1) will show both the total count and the distinct count (2) on your chart.
Exclude Global Records
- If your module relates to stakeholder groups, you can choose to include all records, or exclude records with global visibility.
- Use case: You may have 100 stakeholders related to the project in you chosen module scope. If 60 of these are global records, by turning this setting on, only data from the remaining 40 stakeholders would appear on your chart. This is useful if you want more accurate detail about stakeholders related only to specific projects.
Time Interval
- Users can select the frequency for the x-axis in the chart. The available intervals are options like daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.
- Use Case: This determines how granular the timeline on the x-axis should be, helping users analyse data trends over specific periods.
Period
- Users choose a time period for the data display. The default options may change depending on the Time Interval selected (if applicable to your chart). If you select a Custom period (1), another field will appear to select the date range (2).
- Use Case: Defines how much historical data is included in the visualisation, allowing users to focus on the recent past or longer trends.
(Include/Exclude) Current (Day/Week/Month/Year)
- Users can toggle whether the current period's data is included in the display or whether only full past periods are used.
- Use Case: Provides flexibility to either include or exclude the most recent and potentially incomplete period's data for more accurate reporting.
Display Limits
- Limits the number of classifications shown in the chart. Users can select to just show the top 5, 10 or 15 classifications, show All classifications, or set a Custom number.
- Use Case: This helps users focus on the most relevant or frequent categories in their dataset, making the chart more readable and relevant.

Layout Settings
These settings help users further customise the presentation of their charts, improving readability and clarity depending on the specific needs of their analysis or audience.
Module Title
- The title that the module will be saved as in Consultation Manager (1)
Description
- Explanation of what data the module is presenting (2)
Chart Title
- The title that will appear on the chart when it is exported. This may be different to the Module Title (3)
Include Legend
- Adds a legend to the chart that identifies the colours and symbols used for different event types or classifications.
- Use Case: Useful for making the chart more understandable by showing which colour or marker corresponds to each data type or classification.
Include Data Labels on Visual
- Displays data labels directly on the chart, usually showing specific counts or values at each data point.
- Use Case: Helpful for users who want to see exact numbers for each data point without needing to hover over or analyse the chart in other ways.
Include Data Titles on Visual
- Displays data titles directly on the chart, showing the name of the given data set.
- Use Case: Helpful for users who want to see the classification name at the end of each bat in the chart.
Include Chart Title
- Adds a title to the chart for context or clarification, such as the type of data being visualised.
- Use Case: Useful for clearly identifying the chart when used in reports or presentations.
Include Period
- This setting includes the selected period (displayed in XX/XX/XXXX format) under the chart title for easy reference.
- Use Case: Helpful when users want to automatically add a time frame to the chart for clarity, especially in comparative analyses.
