Reassigning Tags

This article details the steps for reassigning Classification Tags to an alternative Classification Heading.

Required System Role: Enterprise Admin

Why would I need to reassign Tags?

It's not uncommon for your Issues list, Event Types, or any other types of Classifications to get away from you, and you may find that you need to rearrange the structure

Some common examples include:

  • Project/s changing reporting requirements
  • Capturing the data in different/evolving ways

Our Classification management area allows you to rearrange Tags quickly and easily.

What happens when Tags are reassigned?

The process of reassigning Tags simply restructures a Classification List, by moving a Tag under an alternative Heading. Records related to the reassigned Tag retain the relationship to the tag. Reassigning Tags does not update the related data with any additional Tags.

Accessing the management area

Access is via the cog at the top right of CM. Once in the management area, select Classification Management under Classifications.

This will open the Classification Management area to the right.

First, select the Classification list where you want to reassign a Tag.

The List will load.

Reassigning your Tags

After the relevant List has loaded, check the box at the left of the Tags you wish to reassign.

In this example, we are reassigning "Design:Safety" to the "Construction" Heading.

Next, click "Reassign" at the top right of the list workspace.

A pop-up will appear. Here, select the new Heading.

TIP: To reassign a Tag to the top level (i.e. not under any Heading), toggle on the "Assign to Top Level" setting.

After selecting the destination for your merged Tags, click Confirm.

Another pop-up will appear in place of the first, asking you to confirm the merge.

Once you are satisfied with your selections, click "Reassign".

A processing pop-up is displayed briefly and once complete, a success notification will appear the top right of your screen.
